Retention Import

Your retention graph lives in one place. Bring it here.

Instagram and TikTok both draw a retention curve for your video, and neither sends it to any app. Not to Retensis, not to anyone. The screenshot on your phone is the only copy there is. Add it to an analysis and Retensis reads the curve, draws it over its own prediction, and tells you how many points it was out.

Why It Has To Be A Screenshot

No app can fetch this curve, and none ever will.

YouTube sends your audience-retention curve through its Analytics API, which is why Retensis can measure against it directly. Instagram and TikTok do not. Instagram's insights permission covers views, reach, saves, shares, skip rate and average watch time, all of which Retensis shows; the retention chart it draws in the app is not part of it, and TikTok returns retention to nobody. That is not a gap waiting on an approval. It is the shape of both platforms, and a screenshot is the only way past it.

Read, Not Guessed

Your real curve, drawn over the predicted one.

Add the screenshot and Retensis reads the curve off it: where it starts, where it falls, and where it flattens out. That line is drawn over the prediction for the same video so you can see them together, with a plain statement of how many retention points apart they were. Where viewers replayed part of the video and the curve climbs above where it started, that is reported rather than smoothed away.

  • Your curve and the prediction on one chart
  • How close the prediction landed, in retention points
  • Replays reported instead of flattened
  • Recorded in Prediction Accuracy beside your measured videos

Labelled Honestly

A reading of your screenshot is not a measurement, and we say so.

A curve read from an image can differ from the graph it came from, so it never wears the badge a platform-reported curve wears. It is marked as coming from your screenshot everywhere it appears, it is kept separate from videos measured through an API, and it is never used to tune future predictions. A graph covering a different length of video is refused rather than quietly recorded against the wrong one.

  • Marked as coming from your screenshot, never as platform data
  • Kept out of the numbers that tune future predictions
  • A graph for a different video is refused, not stored
  • We keep the curve and discard the picture

FAQ

Common questions

Because Instagram does not offer it. The insights permission covers views, reach, saves, shares, skip rate and average watch time, which Retensis already shows for your connected Reels; the retention chart it draws inside the app is not available through any API. TikTok is the same. YouTube is the one platform that does send it, which is why your YouTube videos are measured directly and need no screenshot.

Open the video in Instagram or TikTok, view its insights, and capture the retention graph with the times along the bottom. Those labels are how Retensis checks the graph belongs to the video being analysed. A cropped image without them is refused rather than guessed at.

No, and that is deliberate. It is a reading of your screenshot, so it is labelled as such wherever it appears, kept separate from videos measured through a platform API, and never used to calibrate future predictions. It shows you how the prediction did; it does not quietly become evidence.

No. The image is read and discarded, and only the curve is stored. Nothing is uploaded to a bucket and nothing is kept to look at later.

There is nothing to import. YouTube reports your real retention curve to Retensis directly, so a YouTube analysis already carries the measured curve and the import is not offered.
